Here, using a national survey, we measure both drinking atypical/special occasion (i.e., feasting fasting) order to develop more complete consumption. A random probability telephone survey was implemented (May 2013 April 2014). Inclusion criteria were resident England aged 16 years or over. Respondents (n = 6,085) provided information (amounts per day, frequency) changes associated with routine atypical days (e.g., Friday nights) special dinking periods holidays) events weddings). Generalized linear modelling used identify additional age, sex, level. Accounting added than 120 million UK units alcohol/week (~12 bottles wine) population England. The greatest impact seen among 25- 34-year-olds the highest consumption, where occasions approximately 18 units/week (144 g) sexes. Those reporting lowest (≤1 unit/week) showed relative increases (209.3%) most occasions. some demographics, adjusting resulted overall reductions annual females, 65 74 years category). Typical alone can be poor proxy actual fills 41.6% gap surveyed sales These inevitably linked lifetime risk alcohol-related disease injury, particularly as often constitute heavy episodes.
