摘要: The initial step of charge separation at 10 K has been monitored with 100-fs time resolution in reaction centers from Rhodopseudomonas viridis and Rhodobacter sphaeroides as well the latter species which one two monomeric bacteriochlorophyll (B) molecules removed by treatment borohydride. Upon excitation 870 nm, absorbance changes measured several wavelengths near-infrared absorption bands pigments, notably maximum B molecule(s), give no indication a detectable concentration B-. Instead, appearance cation radical dimeric primary electron donor (P) bacteriopheophytin anion develops concert decay P*. An bleaching 850-nm band Rho- dopseudomonas uiridis is consistent an assignment least large fraction this to high-energy exciton component P. molecule(s) around 600 nm three types investigated, ultrafast energy transfer leads formation P* less than 100 fs. Under these conditions, fast transient decaying 400-fs constant observed within B. This also present upon preferential bac- teriopheophytins center uiridis.
