摘要: Microglia are best known as the mononuclear phagocytes of central nervous system (CNS) parenchyma. As a resident glial cell population, microglia play key roles during initiation, propagation, and/or resolution inflammation. Recently, discovery that microglial cells continuously survey their local CNS environment in vivo improved our understanding immune-surveillance properties health and disease. Microglial interactions with other elements immune define fine balance between neuroprotection irreparable tissue damage. In this chapter we highlight innate microglia, focus on events initiate an inflammatory response within brain proper including, Toll-like receptors, inflammasomes, cytokines, chemokines, relationship to immune-mediated disease exacerbation or resolution.
