摘要: Gene transfer from the mitochondrion to nucleus, a process of outstanding importance evolution eukaryotic cell, is an on-going phenomenon in higher plants. After transfer, mitochondrial gene has be adapted nuclear context by acquiring new promoter and targeting information direct protein back organelle. To better understand strategies developed plants organellar genes during evolution, we investigated fate RPL5-RPS14 locus grasses. While maize genome does not contain RPS14 RPL5 genes, wheat DNA contains intact nonfunctional pseudogene. PsiRPS14 are co-transcribed their transcripts edited. In wheat, functional located within intron respiratory complex II iron-sulfur subunit (SDH2). Its organization expression mechanisms similar those previously described rice, allowing us conclude that activation occurred before divergence these Unexpectedly, found evidence for more recent nucleus wheat. This acquired its duplication existing presequence another protein, ribosomal L4. Thus, appear maintained supporting hypothesis intermediate stage process, both coexist. Finally, show been independently transferred lineage regulatory elements peptide unknown source.
