Many studies have suggested associations between groups disease, but consensus has been reached regarding survival longevity. This epidemiological, retrospective review age time death a hospitalized population Southeastern United States first multi-site study examine this relationship. was 56% male, 63.4% White, 31.0% Black 2.1% Hispanic. Over half (61.1%) had transfused red cells within one year death. Overall, O (46.6%) most prevalent group, followed (36.8%), Group B (12.9%) AB (3.7%). exhibited differences frequencies across races, Hispanic having highest prevalence (71.2%) Asian populations higher (22.2% 23.1% respectively) when compared distribution. Lifespan ranged from 0 110 mean 58.7 years. While some were noted groups, main effect on lifespan did reach statistical controlling race, gender history cell transfusion. These results contradict that found an association particular lifespan. Future work should consider including cause primary disease potential confounders targeting expanded over wider geographic area increase generalizability racial diversity.
