Cirrhosis among males ranged a low 14.37 deaths per 100 000 Center-West high 35.86 Southeast; females 3.49 8.5 North. curves men showed leveling off decline after 60, except North where curve continued rise. Like latter curve, women also kept rising progressively with increasing age, most markedly Northeast. Overall, accounted 48.7% digestive system disorders 24.1% such women. Of 138 860 1989, 83.2% males; but average loss person dying nationwide, around 15.5 years, similar both sexes. Regionally, affected than it other regions. suggest that regions, is probably attributable largely alcoholism. Among there strong evidence viral etiology (hepatitis B C viruses) important.
