摘要: AssTR.KT.-Because snags are important to forest wildlife as breeding, roosting and foraging sites, resource managers who wish maintain this component in stands need be aware of snag fragmentation rates. Measurements were taken uneven-aged pinehardwood southeastern Arkansas determine rates for hardwood 2 6 yr after stem injection with herbicides. Crown bole condition also assessed. Pinus echinata Mill. E! taeda L. the dominant overstory components undisturbed. Q~ercus spp. accounted 91% hardwoods >25 cm dbh. Since small diameter deteriorated first, distributions changed from unevensized even-sized structure time since mortality increased. Within 3 injection, 57% boles had broken below crown height. Number cavities per increased mortality. At 44% residual evidence cavities. Less than 50% <25 dbh still standing 5 herbicide injection.
