摘要: Abstract This study investigated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and organochlorine compounds such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) DDT-related pesticides in surface sediments of Hooghly estuary the Sundarban mangrove wetlands. Concentrations ∑17PAH, ∑182PCB ∑6DDT ranged from 15.4 to 1731, not detected (nd) 13.5 nd 8.97 ng g−1 dry weight, respectively. Low levels PCBs low moderate concentrations DDTs PAHs reflected recent development West Bengal, which was dominated by agriculture multifarious industries past. Diagnostic ratios suggested that major sources are combustion processes, input agriculture, antifouling paints public health campaigns, organochlorines predominantly industrial origin. Heavier PCB congeners suggest local short-range transport chemicals. Decision makers may use these findings for managing River watershed order promote a sustainable on eastern coast India.
