摘要: This paper reexamines the empirical basis for two "facts" that seem to be found in most cross-section studies of immigrant earnings: (1) earnings immigrants grow rapidly as they assimilate into United States; and (2) this rapid growth leads many immigrants' overtaking natives within 10-15 years after immigration. Using 1970 1980 U.S. censuses, experienced by specific cohorts during period 1970-80. It is within-cohort significantly smaller than predicted regressions groups. differential consistent with hypothesis there has been a secular decline "quality" admitted States.
