摘要: Differential national responses to the European Union's environmental policy have led idea that two worlds of environmentalism exist in Europe. In its harsh version, Europe is divided into North and South, with South suffering from a Mediterranean syndrome. Southern countries are viewed as laggards, perception attributed to, among other factors, weak civil society intertwined political systems characterized by patronage, clientelism, lack respect for public authority. This article provides new evidence documenting Greece, Italy, Spain appears be much stronger on matters than anticipated proponents above view. It also offers an alternative theorization politics, emphasizing aspects organizational structures processes.
