摘要: Distinctive patterns of behavior can be elicited by directly stimulating the brain with substances that are normally found in it, or synthetic compounds resembling these substances. Recent research shows response depends on both site stimulated and type chemical used. Compounds different classes, applied via same cannula to exactly brain, elicit kinds behavior, opposite effects kind behavior. This differential sensitivity is useful tracing circuits control types especially since some intimately interlaced certain places. A better understanding coding behavioral systems may also help ultimately provide a more rational foundation for discovery new drugs treat forms mental disorder.
