摘要: With the exception of small mammals, little research has been conducted in eastern oak forests on influence fire mammals. Several studies have documented or no change inrelative abundance community measures for non-volant mammals (Quercus spp.) following fires despite reductions leaf litter, woody debris, and changes understory midstory composition structure. Other short-term improvements quantity quality forage white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), but none demonstrated population parameters. For other mammal species there are explicit influences must be based inferences from research. We suggest that prefer partially open canopies, herbaceous understories, reduced midstories, savannah habitats likely will prosper presence fire. Fire potential to both recruit as well eliminate den sites cavity trees; burning regimes intensity determine outcomes. Species high conservation concern, such Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) some subspecies fox squirrels (Sciurus niger), should benefit increased these landscapes. An insidious consequence continued preclusion systems is loss structure vegetative more fire-intolerant species.
