摘要: A wide diversity of fishes possess chemical alarm signalling systems. However, it is not known whether the specific chemicals that act as signals are conserved within most taxonomic groups. In this study we tested cross-species responses to occurred salmonid fishes. separate laboratory experiments, exposed brook charr (Salvelinus fontinalis), brown trout (Salmo trutta), and rainbow (Oncorhynchus mykiss) from each three species swordtails (Xiphophorus helleri). case, test responded with appropriate antipredator behavior all salmonids cues, but did react swordtail cues. These data suggest cues partially Family Salmonidae. For tested, intensity response was stronger conspecific than heterospecific indicating could distinguish between conspecifics versus heterospecifics. results chemical(s) may be: 1) identical there be other allow fish heterospecifics, or 2) identical, similar enough recognized.
