Comparison of Vegetarians and Non-Vegetarians on Pet Attitude and Empathy

摘要: Past research found that positive attitudes toward animals are positively correlated with human-directed empathy. One of the most common reasons for becoming a vegetarian is to avoid cruelty animals. Based on above literature, we hypothesized vegetarians, especially moral would show higher empathy and more pets other than non-vegetarians. Seventy-two vegetarians 67 non-vegetarians participated in study. Pet were measured using modified Attitude Scale (PAS-M), was Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI), which has four subscales. Vegetarian males had significantly compared non-vegetarian males; however, there no differences among females. There between non-moral attitude pets. Empathy humans both We conceptualized dietary choice as lifestyle can be explained by their political thinking, personality, personal value systems.
