摘要: The Magellanic Stream and Leading Arm of HI that stretches from the Large Small Clouds (LMC SMC) over 200 degrees Southern sky is thought to be formed multiple encounters between LMC SMC. In this scenario, most gas in stripped SMC, yet recent observations have shown a bifurcation Trailing reveals origins for some gas. Absorption measurements also reveal an order magnitude more than current tidal models. We present hydrodynamical simulations SMC at their first pass around Milky Way, assuming were extended rich past. Our models create filamentary structures both While trailing filament matches observed location, offset. addition, total mass these underestimated factor four when ionized component accounted for. results suggest there should Arm, mirroring Stream. This prediction consistent with spatial variation chemical abundances which show sources present, although nature still uncertain.
