摘要: Abstract Females of the shield bug Parastrachia japonensis Scott progressively provision nymph-containing nests with drupes host tree, Schoepfia jasminodora (Olicaceae: Rosidae: Santales). The majority are 5–15 m from a distance thought to have been major impetus for occurrence provisioning in this species. However, function is not well understood. We carried out two field experiments determine whether nutritionally important and it affords protection against predation. Development nymphs was significantly delayed their survival low absence provisioning, even when were within area ground on which fell, apparently because poor quality drupes. Selective good-quality by female P. japonensis , semelparous species, thus necessary young obtain enough food development. Furthermore, without attendance, having nest reduced early mortality presence predator.
