摘要: The objective of this study was to elucidate the combined use low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) and functional electrical stimulation (FES) on patella–patellar tendon (PPT) junction healing using a partial patellectomy model in rabbits. LIPUS delivered continuously starting day 3 postoperative until week 6. FES applied quadriceps muscles induce tensile force repaired PPT 5 days per for 6 weeks since 7 postoperatively. Forty rabbits with were randomly divided into four groups: control, alone, LIPUS + FES groups. At 12, complexes harvested histology, radiographs, peripheral quantitative computed tomography, biomechanical testing. There better remodeling newly formed bone fibrocartilage zone three treatment groups compared control group. and/or treatments significantly increased area mineral content new bone. failure load ultimate strength complex also highly improved More higher properties showed group or alone Early later additive effects accelerating healing. © 2013 Orthopaedic Research Society.
