摘要: Three experiments were carried out to investigate whether amodal completion in pigeons can be facilitated by the use of colour photographs instead highly artificial stimuli such as geometrical shapes. Ten trained a go/no-go procedure discriminate between complete and incomplete pigeon figures. In subsequent test, birds classified pictures partly occluded though they (experiment 1). However, we found evidence that classification was based on spurious stimulus features paralleled intended class rule figural completeness versus incompleteness. particular, shown guided white background gaps separated parts fragmented figures 2), well cues related overall Gestalt 3). summary, present results indicate more natural shapes is insufficient for providing pigeons. It suggested combination various cues, including, eg, 3-D information common motion addition surface contour properties, may required induce perceptual bias favouring visual portions.
