摘要: In the treatment of children and adolescents with cancer, multimodal approaches combining surgery, chemotherapy radiation can cure most patients, but may cause lifelong health problems in survivors. Current therapies only modestly reflect increased knowledge about molecular mechanisms these cancers. Advances next-generation sequencing have provided unprecedented cataloging genetic aberrations tumors, understanding how changes drive cellular transformation, they be effectively targeted, will require multidisciplinary collaboration preclinical models that are truly representative vivo environment. Here, I discuss some key challenges pediatric cancer from my perspective as a physician-scientist, touch on promising new potential to transform our diseases.
