摘要: Recently, highly cross-linked polyethylenes with high wear and oxidation resistance have been developed. These materials may improve the in vivo performance of polyethylene components used total knee arthroplasty. To date, vitro testing these new has done under conditions normal gait. However, their critical assessment also must include aggressive fatigue testing. In current study, an device model simulating a tight posterior cruciate ligament balance during stair climbing was developed to assess one type tibial insert comparison conventional polyethylene. The inserts group were tested after sterilization. One additional subjected accelerated aging before articular surfaces inspected visually for surface delamination, cracking, pitting at regular intervals test. aged showed extensive delamination cracking as early 50,000 cycles. contrast, unaged did not show any subsurface or 0.5 million appearance location that occurred previously observed cruciate-sparing design arthroplasties ligament.
