摘要: This study was conducted to establish the potential of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. buttercrunch) seeds as a bioindicator (BI), or biological tool for detecting presence some toxic materials used in tanning industry and determining their concentrations using germination percentage parameter (indicator). Samples Gezira Tannery Corporation (GTC) wastewater (WW) were collected from both mouth tail drainage stream. Lettuce (10/Petri dish, replicated 3x each experiment repeated 3x) treated by GTC WW other important agents (chromium oxide , sodium sulfide, Preventol ® WB) solution different mixture. The bioassay revealed that intoxicated (i.e. reduced percentage), when exposed WW. On exposure several input, can be measured this BI sensitivity reliability) are: chromium 0.1 3.25%, sulfide 0.19 1.5% WB 18.75 150 ppm. Lower cannot measured, higher resulted 100% inhibition. IC50 determined probit analysis WW, mixture three inputs, alone, alone were: 35.5, 14.5, 0.44, 0.45 0.005%, respectively. slopes log-dose probability lines (Ld-P) showed response all treatments homogeneous (> 2) (tabulated X 2 (df= n- at 5%= 0.172, 0.11, 0.064, 0.05 0.05). It is concluded satisfy almost required properties ideal BI.
