摘要: Latex functions as a physical and chemical defence against herbivores that may vary in their responses to latex quantity composition. In introduced ranges, many exotic plants experience reduced herbivore regulation, especially from specialist herbivores, which lead differences defences among native invasive populations. Here, we compared produced by seedlings populations of tallow tree (Triadica sebifera) when damaged or generalist caterpillar. We measured the growth caterpillars fed leaves had washed were unwashed controls. We found constitutive mass, tannins flavonoids similar. The masses comparable regardless leaf washing. We also induced more production than did, for populations. Tannins increased decreased caterpillar but neither changed caterpillar. Our results suggest divergent selection on properties range. was sensitive identity range specificity response retained.
