摘要: Urban ecosystems, as mosaics of residential, industrial, commercial, and agricultural land, present challenges for species survival due to impervious surface, degradation, fragmentation, modification natural habitat, pollution, introduced species. Some urban habitats, such community gardens, support biodiversity promote ecosystem services. In local factors (e.g., vegetation, groundcover) landscape surroundings agriculture, built or cover) may influence abundance, richness, functional traits that are present. We examined which within 19 gardens in the California central coast ground beetle (Carabidae) activity density, group traits—body size, wing morphology, dispersal ability. Gardens with higher crop richness surrounded by land had greater carabid while did not respond any factor. more leaf litter lower activity, tended have larger carabids. Changes (floral (urban also influenced distribution individuals certain morphology body size traits. Thus, both taxonomic communities, potential implications pest control services provided
