‘Urbanist’ lived experience: resident observations on life in Poundbury

摘要: Evidence-based critical reflection on urbanist visions for the future remains limited in extent. In particular, analyses that assess resident experience of new developments are lacking. present paper, Sandercock's (1998) normative guidelines planning practice and Lefebvre's (1991) notion lived space combined to examine urban village manifestation, via a case study Poundbury Dorset, UK. The paper reports results from structured interviews with 111 residents Poundbury. It covers demographic characteristics residents, evaluations planned outcomes relating community, design, mixed activity, transit energy goals. considers extent which goals have been achieved, levels support goals, some issues such need address future. argues more reflective approach projects, particularly terms any potential they may contribute inclusivity.
