摘要: Sea surface temperature (SST), salinity, and flux of terrigenous material oscillated on millennial time scales in the Pleistocene North Atlantic, but there are few records Holocene variability. Because high rates sediment accumulation, oscillations well documented northern Sargasso Sea. Results from a radiocarbondated box core show that SST was {approximately} 1{degree}C cooler than today 400 years ago (the Little Ice Age) 1700 ago, warmer 1000 Medieval Warm Period). Thus, at least some warming since Age appears to be part natural oscillation. 39 refs., 4 figs., 1 tab.
