摘要: Specialized varieties of sugar beets (Energy Beets™) are being developed for producing industrial sugars in Arkansas’ Mississippi River Delta. To evaluate their suitability regional fermentation feedstocks, we report initial cultivation trials and ethanol raw beet juice combined with pulp mash (JPM) liquefied enzymes, comparing yields under different regimes by self-flocculating non-flocculating yeasts. Nine produced root averaging 115 Mg/ha 18.5% sucrose contents. Raw yielded up to 0.48 g/g (sugar). JPM was directly fermented through either a sequential (SeqSF) or simultaneous saccharification (SSF) process. For both yeast types, SSF more efficient process than SeqSF, 0.47 (sugar) volumetric productivity 7.81 g/L/h. These results indicate the is suitable developing bioprocesses ferment from energy beets.
