摘要: Building Information Modelling (BIM) reflects the current heightened transformation within Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Industry Facilities Management (FM) sector, offering a host of benefits from increased efficiency, accuracy, speed, co-ordination, consistency, energy analysis, project cost reduction etc to various stake holders owners architects, engineers, contractors other built environment professionals. Many countries around world are responding this paradigm shift including United Kingdom (UK). The Cabinet office took decision in 2011 make use collaborative 3D BIM technology mandatory for all public sector construction contracts by 2016 (Cabinet Office, 2011). According Smith Tardif, despite certain myths misconceptions surrounding BIM, its rate implementation has been much faster comparison availability professionals skilled thus creating skill gap design industry (Smith cited Barison Santos, 2010a). This article aims at bridging between graduate sets changing needs profession. research methodology adopted consists thoroughly reviewing existing literature subject area coupled with carrying out survey accredited Schools Architecture UK. analysis questionnaire results shows extent which is currently being taught identifies barriers where either slow or not yet started. paper highlights fact that there considerable delay successful integration UK, emphasising need expeditiously training preparing students making them ready effectively perform enabled work arena.
