摘要: The potential exists for developmental exposure of children to myriad chemicals, many which are known be neurotoxic. Some, such as the organophosphate pesticides, specifically designed attack central nervous system. Despite and suspected risks associated with exposures, critical aspects dose-response relationships unknown or, at best, poorly characterized overwhelming majority chemicals. Among major knowledge gaps most chemicals window(s) vulnerability, threshold or "no observed adverse effect level," host/environmental characteristics that modify individual vulnerability. Investigation role genetic polymorphisms in determining vulnerability has barely begun. In real-world, not exposed a single chemical time but complex mixtures we have only minimal understanding way exposures might interact one another. Effective medical/environmental treatments effects largely unknown, rendering primary prevention effective strategy protecting children.
