摘要: The influence of contextual factors on the pain evoked by a noxious stimulus is not well defined. In this study, 20 C rod was placed one hand for 500 ms while we manipulated evaluative context (or ‘meaning’) of, warning about, and visual attention to, stimulus. For meaning, red (hot, more tissue damaging) or blue (cold, less cue used. warning, occurred after they together. attention, subjects looked towards away from it. Repeated measures ANCOVA significant (a = 0.0125). Stimuli associated with were rated as hot, cold (difference an 11 point scale 5.5). also meant unpleasant 3.5) intense 3). stimuli only, when than it didn’t 1.1). Pain intense, hotter, at red-cued 0.9 intensity 2 temperature). We conclude that meaning affects experience evokes, moderate effects tissue-damage. Different dimensions stimulus’ can have differential sensory-discriminative affective-emotional components pain. 2007 International Association Study Pain. Published Elsevier B.V.
