摘要: Abstract An east-west trending structure in central Ethiopia, the Yerer Tullu-Wellel volcanotectonic lineament, intersects Main Ethiopian Rift and lies between latitudes 8°20′N 9°05′N. Interpretation of Landsat images, calibrated by field study, indicates relative chronology observed fracture systems (northeast-southwest, east-west, north-south northwest-southeast). Along this there are several volcanoes concentrated along latitude 8°45′N. Most these have basic lava flows at their base with acid dome, plug, and/or pyroclastic deposits as evolved end members. The chemistry volcanic rocks shows a progressive decrease alkalinity silica undersaturation from western areas towards rift margin. Radiometric ages range 12 Ma to Recent indicate that activity shifted eastward time. usually located intersections above described systems. role transtensional volcano-tectonic lineament since Late Miocene times is discussed within geodynamic evolution Rift.
