摘要: Intravascular catheterization access for injection and sampling is one of the most common experimental surgical procedures. The vascular port (VAP) was developed as an alternative to externalization catheters. A VAP typically implanted subcutaneously, with attached catheter that tunneled a blood vessel chronic catheterization. Catheters ports have been designed reduce problems occlusion, venous thrombosis, infection. Key issues involve use meticulous aseptic technique implantation devices "locking" solution prevents clotting retention residues within catheter. There are species-specific differences be considered when planning maintenance these devices. This manuscript reviews procedures used in VAPs large animal species makes recommendations will decrease complication rates associated long-term
