摘要: The content and distribution of autolysin were measured in temperature-sensitive morphological mutants Bacillus subtilis. Strains RUB1000 RUB1012 grew as rods at 30 C. At 45 C the contained disproportionately less teichoic acid than peptidoglycan irregular spheres. amount enzyme that could be extracted from was least 31 times rate autolysis cell walls 7- to 28-fold greater low activity found associated with spheres not compensated for by larger amounts autolytic cytoplasm. No growth medium either temperature. failure mutant cells autolyze due amidase relatively resistant walls. Revertants isolated had 13, 23, 55% normal proportions when grown nonpermissive Cell revertants sensitive added wild-type strain. None revertant strains regained ability produce more However, deficiency observed partially restored containing higher acid.
