摘要: Cognitive status has been reported to affect the peri-operative and post-operative outcomes of certain surgical procedures. This prospective study investigated effect preoperative cognitive impairment on postoperative course elderly patients (n = 122, >65 years), following spine surgery for degenerative spinal disease. Data demographic characteristics, medical history, blood analysis results were collected. Preoperative cognition was assessed using mini-mental state examination, divided into three groups: normal cognition, mild impairment, moderate-to-severe impairment. Discharge destinations (p 0.014) cardiopulmonary complications 0.037) significantly differed based status. Operation time 0.049), white cell count 0.022), platelet 0.013), examination score 0.033), Beck Depression Inventory 0.041) associated with length hospital stay. Our investigation demonstrated that improved understanding may be helpful in decision-making care
