The behaviour of MnO2 in strongly acidic solutions

摘要: Different MnO2 samples were equilibrated with H2SO4 solutions of varying concentrations and the equilibrium concentration dissolved Mn3+ determined experimentally. Leaching in strong acid appears to be a useful tool for characterizing different types materials. The showed sharp drop above 9 M H2SO4. crystal structure was not affected by leaching only slight grain coarsening observed.
