摘要: Displacement of the ring oxygen in a sugar by other heteroatoms such as nitrogen, phosphorus, or sulfur leads to pronounced changes physicochemical properties and, thus, “information content” modified carbohydrate towards biochemical systems. Consequently, altered biological derivative with modifying enzymes, for example, glycosidases glycosyl transferases, well carbohydrate-recognizing entities can lead useful applications diagnostic therapeutic agent. Sugar analogs nitrogen instead have attracted considerable attention due their activities inhibitors glycosidases. Similar effects been found carbohydrates bearing ring. Other elements introduced into this position, phosphorus selenium, had lesser impact on chemistry and glycomimetics research.
