摘要: The authors studied the distribution of specific keratins within superior, inferior, medial, and lateral regions human limbus cornea to determine whether limbal epithelium exhibits regional heterogeneity in its microstructure. A corneal epithelial basic keratin (K3), recognized by monoclonal antibody AE5, was immunohistochemically undetectable basal layers these four regions, but seen all central cornea. pattern immunostaining with another antibody, AE1, which recognizes several acidic keratins, complementary AE5 staining that AE1 a similar cells. immunoreacted cells limbus, not those epithelium. Limbal characteristics, as defined AE1-positive AE5-negative staining, extended deeply into peripheral superior inferior lesser extent medial regions. broader characteristics raises possibility play an important role maintenance wound healing.
