摘要: Historically, survey data reveal that lesbians have experienced ostracism, rough treatment, and derogatory comments by their medical practitioners (Stevens & Hall, 1988; Kass et al., 1992). As a result, many decided not to tell physicians about orientation (Hughes, 2004). Some patients perceived the negative attitudes some of caregivers toward them, causing them hesitate returning or obtaining routine health maintenance visits. Surveys (Mathews 1986) nursing professionals (Eliason, 1998) confirm 30% discomfort providing care lesbian received little training issues (Albarran Salmon, 2000; Risdon 2000) Additionally, are limited in access because they cannot participate partners’ employment benefit package, as married spouse is entitled do (O’Hanlan, 1999).
