摘要: In the past few years, bone field has witnessed great advances in genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of osteoporosis, with a number promising genes identified. particular, meta-analysis GWASs, aimed at increasing power by combining results from different study populations, have led to identification novel associations that would not otherwise been identified individual GWASs. Recently, first whole genome sequencing for osteoporosis and fractures was published, reporting rare nonsense mutation. This review summarizes important representative findings published December 2013. Comments are made on notable their potential influence implications our present understanding genetics osteoporosis. Potential limitations GWASs meta-analyses evaluated, an emphasis reasons inconsistent between clarification misinterpretation GWAS results. Implications challenges also discussed, including need multi- inter-disciplinary studies.
