摘要: The RNA molecules of the spliceosome are critical for specificity and catalysis during splicing eukaryotic pre-mRNA. In order to examine evolution phylogenetic distribution these RNAs, we analyzed 149 genomes representing a broad range groups. RNAs were predicted using high-sensitivity local alignment methods profile HMMs in combination with covariance models. results provide most comprehensive view so far spliceosomal RNAs. many groups where not previously reported. Examples major (U2-type) all fungal lineages, lower metazoa protozoa. We also identified minor (U12-type) U11 U6atac Acanthamoeba castellanii, U12 as well introns reported recently. addition, minor-spliceosome-specific number such observed, including nematode Trichinella spiralis, slime mold Physarum polycephalum lineages Zygomycota Chytridiomycota. detailed map U12-type genes supports an early origin points occasions it was lost.
