摘要: A high-temperature cloud chamber is described in which a bead of alkali halide supported on heater coil mounted the roof. By passing current through temperature may be momentarily raised by several hundred degrees, producing salt vapour at high supersaturation. Condensation ensues presence inert supporting gas, and clouds droplets or solid particles appear depending temperature. Light scattered from under strong illumination examined with telescope, crystalline detected their capacity to seintillate, `twinkle'. It found that twinkling halides appears sharply as lowered below melting point, defining critical solidification for each salt. Reasons are given regarding this freezing threshold molten droplets, supercoolings about 150$^\circ$C indicated. reduced temperature, ratio has value approximately 0$\cdot$8 all examined.
