摘要: Treatment options for oesophago-gastric cancers reach from limited resection to multimodality treatment. An accurate clinical assessment and prognostic information are needed selecting the most appropriate treatment approach. Positron emission tomography (PET) in combination with computed (CT) a hybrid imaging modality may ameliorate staging accuracy add information. Experiences specialised centers indicate that PET also aid estimate predict response preoperative chemotherapy chemoradiation. This article recapitulates value of multidisciplinary care cancer. At this stage, it remains unclear if prognosis patients can be improved by implementing management disease. Prospective multicenter studies should performed validate metabolic cut-off values proof benefit PET-guided decisions.
