Exorcising excision: medico-legal issues arising from male and female genital surgery in Australia.

摘要: Genital surgery is one of the most controversial and contested practices, yet it frequently described referred to with little or no attention cultural social context. This article examines practice, performed on both men women, extent which clashes issues consent capacity, as well multicultural concepts toleration for minority group practices. It then questions why female genital surgery, unlike male legally prohibited in Australia. argues that such legal gender bias stems from a liberal conception “tolerance” limits Australia, placing an “unacceptable” category “acceptable” category.
