摘要: Introduction Although the problem of child maltreatment is not a new one, systematic study this phenomenon began in relatively recent past. Since early 1960s topic has been much discussed and debated, with controversies existing on every issue from definition to treatment. One reason that abuse concern workers variety fields, including pediatrics, psychology, psychiatry, education, law, social work, theology, government. Workers all these disciplines have contributed mosaic ideas, opinions, empirical findings represent what we understand – yet about children. In chapter will begin an overview as historical phenomenon. Definitional issues concurrent determining incidence then be considered, several etiological theories. Then review evidence correlates maltreatment, also evaluate validity popular notions myths abuse. Finally, examine societal context which occurs, conclude number recommendations for further research treatment approaches.
