摘要: The debates on the need for new approaches to govern globalized maritime industry and address negative environmental social impacts of shipping have been extensive during last decade. Public regulation based international conventions is universal global in scope, but it facing several implementation gaps. Private can complement public regulation, partial its scope both thematically geographically, relies actors’ commitment. Therefore, central dilemma how effectively combine private order make environmentally, socially economically sustainable. Given a variety forms this research concentrates corporate responsibility (CSR) as special form self-regulation. Building upon institutional framework, paper seeks reconstruct theoretical reasoning behind expectations that proliferation CSR improve effects shipping. Based an review literature, following questions are addressed: (1) How does function self-regulation industry?
