摘要: The incidence and magnitude of multiple paternity were estimated for a natural, unmanipulated spawning population Atlantic salmon Salmo salar. Egg nests surveyed in the autumn sub-samples excavated following spring. Parentage data derived from microsatellite DNA revealed an unexpectedly high level paternity. Within single redd, females may mate with as many 16 different males, including small mature male parr large anadromous males. Multiple was most pronounced areas highest redd density, corresponding increased abundances parr. In addition, there considerable variation success among although this variability did not depend upon number males participating spawning. This work underscores value undertaking genetic studies on mating systems fishes unmanipulated, natural environments.
