摘要: Detailed information on the distribution and abundance of animals is often difficult to establish for rare elusive species. Here we report genetic analyses confirming presence Kam dwarf hamster 500 km north its known in China where it was earlier thought be endemic. Our finding made during a study disease ecology southern Mongolia illustrates benefit approaches when studying species or that are either identify do not elicit public scientific attention. We suggest larger ranges than currently may common pattern number because ineffective survey methods lack sampling effort.
