摘要: This paper reviews the current understanding of thyroid hormone economy and homeostasis in elasmobranch fishes considers those measures activity hypothalamic-pituitary gland-thyroid gland-peripheral tissue axis that are necessary for adequate assessment physiology. In particular, we focus on value measuring hepatic 5'-monodeiodinase (5'-MDA) as an indicator animal's cellular production rate active hormone, triiodo-L-thyronine (T(3)). We also examine characteristics 5'-MDA activity, vitro, adult female dogfish (Squalus acanthias) collected from Passamaquoddy Bay, New Brunswick, Canada, embryos they were carrying. T(3) T(4) by homogenates vitro was time- temperature-dependent, enhanced presence a thiol donor. Michaelis constant (K(m)) maximum reaction velocity (V(max)) values 3.8 x 10(-7) M 0.29 nM T(3)/mg protein/hr, respectively. The inclusion trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) or mixture urea, TMAO, betaine sarcosine significantly production. Hepatic depressed fish fasted 7 days. J. Exp. Zool. 284:492-499, 1999.
