摘要: Abstract Objective There is some evidence that posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) associated with increased risk of infections, and it unknown whether adjustment as well. We assessed the association between subsequent additive interaction sex. Methods The study population included a nationwide cohort all Danish-born residents Denmark diagnosed 1995 2011, an age- sex-matched general comparison cohort. compared rates infections requiring inpatient or outpatient hospitalization in two cohorts. fit Cox proportional hazards models to compute adjusted hazard ratios (aHR) for associations 32 types calculated contrasts assess Results Adjustment was overall (n = 19,838 aHR = 1.8, 95% confidence interval = 1.8. 1.9), each individual infection type (aHRs 30 ranged from 1.5 2.3), adjusting baseline psychiatric somatic comorbidities marital status. For many (e.g., skin pneumonia), indicated rate differences were greater among men than women, while (urinary tract sexually transmitted infections), women. Conclusions These findings are consistent studies examining relationship psychological PTSD infections. They may be explained by combination triggering unhealthy behaviors well immune responses stress.
