摘要: Copper(II) acetate is frequently used as a catalyst for bond-forming reactions in organic synthesis. Unlike aqueous solutions, which complete heterolysis to CuOAc+(aq) and AcO–(aq) prevails at low concentrations, it clear that copper(II) shows large degree of aggregation typical solvents. Here, the speciation behavior Cu(OAc)2 solvents probed by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), reveals an extensive clustering copper species form ions general composition [Cun(X)2n–1]+ [Cun(X)2n+1]– (X = OAc OCH3), along with (solvated) monomeric such [Cu(OAc)(CH3OH)n]+. The ESI-MS measurements are complemented solution-phase studies electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, support Collisional experiments reveal either simple degradation or redox processes can be observed, depending on coordinative saturation clusters. formation clusters efficiently suppressed contamination small amount water.
