摘要: Barley yellow dwarf (BYD) is an economically important, most widely distributed, and destructive viral disease of cereals. The caused by barley virus (BYDV). phloem-limited pathogen causes variable symptoms depending upon the isolate, crop species, time infection environmental conditions. In general, yellowing reddening leaves starting from upper tips to downward, dwarfing reduction in size number ears grains are observed infected plants. BYDV isometric Luteovirus containing ssRNA genome transmitted a persistent manner more than 20 species aphids. has serious economic impact yield losses may range 5% 50%. Presently, five isolates such as PAV, MAV, RMV, RPV SGV have been identified based on epitope profile aphid vector specificity. biologically well defined sub-divided two sub-groups; subgroup 1 including MAV 11 RMV RPV. Although can be managed integrated approaches cultural practices, use pesticides host plant resistance, but planting varieties with tolerance or resistant economical practical approach. Development resistance through genetic engineering another possible option combat problem. Recombinant DNA technology opened up prospect increasing diversity plants their transformation. This will further help increase bread wheats while using BYDV-resistant genes already wild relatives wheat other species. Given significance its world wide occurrence, this review presented update knowledge various aspects BYDVs.
